My 1st Triathalon...

...and maybe my last!!! Yesterday I competed in the Spudman Triathalon in Burley, Idaho. Zak's in Alaska, so he wasn't able to do it, but his dad and sister did it with me. We started off with a mile swim in the Snake River, which I'm not joking, nearly drowned all three of us. It was utter chaos when the swim started, with people everywhere. I got kicked in the mouth, wacked in the face, and took several blows to the ribs by other swimmers arms and legs. It felt like I was being trampled in the water. Probably hands down, the scariest experience of my life. I swallowed so much yummy river water and spend a lot of time on my back trying to catch my breath. But thankfully I survived the swim (to which Dallin later told me, with tears in his eyes, that if I was really drowning, he would have jumped in the water, even without a life jacket on, to save me). I then had to hurry and change into my biking gear for a 26 mile ride. I really enjoyed this part (maybe I was just so glad to be out of the water) and felt great during the ride. After the bike, I changed shoes again and set off on a 6 mile run. It was only about 10am, but it was already 95 degrees. The run was so hot, and semi miserable, but I knew that once I was done running, it was over! I'm glad overall that I did it (and glad it's over). Dallin came up with Zak's mom to watch us and take pictures. I was so fun to have him there cheering us on!

Setting up our bikes and gear the night before the race.

Rows and rows of bikes

Our sweet wetsuits - right before the swim started.

The terrifying swim! (this doesn't do it justice)

We had to carry our bikes across a thorny, rocky patch before getting on.

THE FINISH LINE!!!!

Zak's sister, his Dad, and me...so happy to have finished!

Wiped Out!!!

NYC 2007

Hello All,

We have just returned from New York where we had an absolutely wonderful time. Especially, thanks to Trev who made our trip so memorable, and all of you that helped with Cy, he would not have done well in the city. Our boys had a great time, Coleman and Steff got to see "Wicked" thanks to Trev who won lottery tickets (he's won them 3 out of 4 tries!) Cal, Trev and I got to see the Yankees play in the house that Ruth built (Devil Rays hitting a grand slam and Jeter stealing second were highlights). Upstate New York was special and we're glad we missed the pageant crowds. We made a couple of slide shows, they may be a little long, sorry. Again, thank to all who made it possible.

Love,

Cam, Steff, Coleman, Calvin & Cy

CeLisa as a blogger? Possibly!!

Hello Everyone! I know you all thought this day would never come but I have decided to make all your dreams come true! This summer has been quite the eventful one and I only feel it fair that I should share it with you. I'm engaged!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding! The real reason I am writing is because at the beginning of this summer I spent an incredible 2 weeks in florida with Spence,Sarah,Caleb,Amelia and Olivia. It was one of the funnest vacations I have ever had. They took me to so many neat places that I had never seen or been to before. The first 2 pictures are a place we went to where they said they go frequently when they can get a babsysitter. It looked like a really exciting place and It looks like they've had a lot of fun in florida :) They also took me to the most amazing beach on Marco Island. I have never seen a prettier sunset. The last picture is of us in the everglades. Caleb loved the alligators. I had so much fun playing with the kids and watching late night movies with spence and sarah. They treated me like royalty and informed me that they would do the same to anyone who came out to visit them (just to spread the word). Well, thus ends my very first attempt at blogging. I will try to post things more often. Love you all!

BYU Football Camp!

Last week Dallin, Brayden, and Tyson went to a BYU football camp. They have been looking forward to this for months, and I think they would say it was well worth the wait! They started out the camp on Monday in the cougar locker room at the BYU stadium. Coach Bronco Mendenhall came and talked to the boys, said a prayer with them and a team cheer, then led them out onto the field with the BYU flag. They watched a cougar football highlight video on the jumbo-tron, then went straight into practice drills. Each day they'd learn some new drills and skills, and they'd be so excited to tell us about all them & what the coaches said the them. The last day some of the players and coaches autographed their t-shirts, and footballs, and even shoes. Braxton got in the action since Curtis Brown, his IDOL, was there, and they all got several autographs and pictures (and they even asked Curtis Brown for an autograph for their Grandpa Rand!) They thought it was the coolest thing ever, and had such a good time. I have a strong feeling that we'll be back there again next year!

A hard days night!

This is an all too familiar sight at the Zarbock house.....Zak coming home after a long 30 hour shift and falling asleep halfway up the stairs to the bedroom. He has so many sleepless nights at the hospital, I don't know how he does it! He works so hard for us, and we are so grateful for him!

The Infamous Crash...dun, dun dun....

Welp...here are the pictures of my brave little car that held up oh-so-well in our "hit-and-run" last week. Yes, we were hit by an illegal immigrant with no license and no insurance. Although he hit us and took off...Danny chased him down with my smashed car and we were able to work things out with the police and with him...sort of!
It was a good thing his car was banged up too because it didn't let him get away too fast or go too far! We are doing well and sustained no serious injuries! We feel very lucky and blessed!
